This is the story of a Pie Safe. Unfortunately we do not know in whose home this pie safe has resided.
But we do know just a little bit of its history and of its travels. We know that it started its journey to its present location from the Zion, Illinois area. From the Zion area it went to North Chicago, Illinois. This town is just outside Great Lakes, Illinois where the U.S. Navy has a large training center.
After a time in North Chicago the Pie Safe took a trip to Taylor, Arkansas. It was used there as a storage unit for tools and the like.
Then in 2003 Gayle and Owen King decided to take the Pie Safe with them to their home in Mississippi.
As you can see from "The Beginning" photo on your left they have started a restoration project. They will remove all the paint, repair any damage and restore the pie safe to its original condition.
At present, since this is "a work in process" there is only one picture in this series. As the work moves forward on this project, it is hoped that more pictures can be added.
